What are the overall things that we can do?
I mean I guess everything is either adding or removing information/noise.
I think as an overall interface AR glasses let you pull up/see information closer to you when you need it. Information can be tied to objects which is a new paradigm. But also the surface area for information to be presented is expanded immensely. We now have full human field of view screen size.
Decent AR glasses with a camera can work to extend your vision / reach. You could sort of already do this with your phone to use the camera zoom in to see something. But now you could just do this immediately and effortlessly.
See The digital spanner.
Levels of reality
AR glasses are also a new paradigm, I think there will emerge different levels of reality where you can operate on.
I think my idea of levels was just a way to bunch different degrees of weirdness and change together. Sort of sectioning and dividing things up in a way that feels digestible for me to approach it bit by bit.
If everything can be augmented then why bother associating? So much of our current world is out of necessity for systems and processes and norms that exist that just simply wouldn't need to exist in that new world. For example, could you just leave your body in augmented reality? Why do you have to walk around at the same pace that you do currently? Could you not fly ahead further to somewhere else? Could you not teleport into a different digital sort of world immediately? Why does it have to have the same constraints as the physical world? Why do they need to be tied? I think part of my initial thought is that there will just be a bunch of glowing objects that are associated with the real world. And that's likely. But if everything can be changed, why stay around? Why not change everything?
How can AGI and AR help?
Ok, well what tools do we have at our disposal?
- Spacing, we can physically separate out ideas.
- Color.
- Symbolism.
- Temporal change, ie interactivity, click to expand etc. "Depth".
These are all how we can do this on our laptops currently but how can AGI and AR help?
- More spacing (eg different windows popping up in your field of view).
- Color.
- Symbolism I also see improving, instantly generated and rendered diagrams for the context, that are interactive, which also kind of is "temporal change" (below).
- Temporal change, immensely interactive.
