One input surface

I think I need one canonical input surface.

I think I need one canonical input surface.

At the moment I have to route to different tabs to do different work.

I was thinking I need a new Chrome tab or app or something to do this, but that lives within the same constraints that I complain about within the bounds of a tab or an app.

To break free of that, I need one global system, which is my computer itself. Lean more into bespoke hacky fixes across different things.

But to be more specific... I think I need a system that lives within the terminal because that makes the most sense because my notes and writing are there anyway and I can have intelligence in there. There's really no reason to be in the browser unless I want tab management or just reading web pages. But my intelligence can do that. So I only really need three things:

  • intelligence
  • my notes
    • somewhere to write
  • webpages (sometimes)

The tldr is that my system is the interface, it's everything.

Fire off tabs

I wonder if what is very low friction for me is to just have some always open surface/workspace etc. where I can just fire off / send tabs (or multiple, or files) and ask a question. That feels like the right input surface.

I want something that I can just direct tabs at with a question. I want to be able to select/fire off URLs easily alone or together. Fire them off to intelligence, maybe with my notes.

  • so the output surface for this doesn't have to be the place the tabs were in the first place. It could easily be Claude Code.

Then the output surface I am not sure. It will likely be words so could live in the terminal. Makes sense. What else would I possibly need? Links? Yeah, can be selectable through term. Diagrams not rly.

Do I just have it rewrite the page? Or be some popup/injected element into the page? (Prob not a sidebar.)

Well can I just view every page through my own interface, like Obsidian having a browser, can I have my own...

I am probably on the same N sites most of the time anyway... so can I build something that is useful for me to just pick apart websites, group by task, fire off questions to specific tabs, bundle up specific tabs, files etc together and ask as a prompt, group things into a rough workspace. I will want to be able to select any text/element (like I can with tridactyl) and ask an LLM a question about it, it should have rough "base" context, maybe around things I like. (I could configure memory files, what it knows etc, this is sort of the guardian angels.)

I input:

  • websites
  • files
  • questions
  • text/ideas

I get output:

  • text
  • questions/MCQs
  • dials / knobs for me to configure
  • diagrams/visual elements

Biggest gains are probably to be made in me switching from webgpt for fast questions to the term here.

See Maybe it's just HTML and Tabs.

Command maxxing

I should be command maxxing more for repeated flows etc, can wire in Claude too if I need.

I have that Google Nest I kinda wanna jailbreak but how useful is it really, I am always at phone or laptop, I can just run commands there.

Growing an argument

Adding absurd constraints is a way to force you to get creative.

Tabs

You have 50 chrome tabs open because you have no better system.
